I GOT IT RUNNING TODAY!!!!!!!! It took me about 3 hours maybe. Got it to turn over freely. cleaned the plugs good and put them back in. Used a fluid pump thingy to feed fuel to the carb by hand because somebody put an electric fuel pump on it and it isnt working. So i couldn't let it run long. here is a pic of the ghetto setup

Good to hear it runs!

I would just put a stock mechanical pump back on, an aftermarket electric one would put too much volume to that 1v carb, I would think.

I think I may have figured out some of my brake issues. I pulled the front drums off and they are missing the adjusters on the bottom. I don't know about the back brakes don't have enough jack stands.

I replaced all of the brake stuff and though they were good, but they didn't hold very well. Have to go back and adjust them again i guess. I changed the tranny fluid because there was NONE in it. Now it works enough to get me up and down the driveway. It runs fairly good. considering im running it out of a one gallon gas can with an electric fuel pump.

How pissed was the guy with the trailer? Did he try and offer more or anything?

Nice find, good to now that another one gets saved and is not put out to paster. I found mine 1967 mustang for $200 it ran the oner took the engine out and was going to junk it. I took it out of his hands for that price so once again good deal on that.

Looks like a great place to start with your project. I too just bought my first 1967 mustang fastback 390 4 speed. As you can see from the pictures your $1500 to mine shows yours in better condition. I just bought a 2004 cobra brake kit for the car and have started my list for the body panels. Mustangs plus in kansas city will be happy when I pull the trigger on the $6000.00 body panel order.
Keep us updated as I will do the same

I got to drive it for the first time yesterday, and a lot more today. I replaced the master cylinder and reblead the system 2 or 3 times just to be sure. I may still have a leak somewhere because it acts like it is loosing pressure sometimes. I poured a gallon or so of acetone in the gas tank and recirculated it through the tank for a while to clean it out. Reconnected the electric fuel pump and fixed the fuel lines. I ran a switch for the pump and gave it a go.

It runs pretty good. It died on me twice, but started back up. Half of the exhaust is gone. The muffler is all rusted out and the exhaust pipe is rusted off before it comes over the rear axle. I also think it is leaking up around where the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe join. It runs a little rough, but I'm not complaining. I had a big grin on my face today as i was driving around.

I guess I'll take it to my friends garage and start the tear down process and body work.

Thumbs up congrats on your find

Good job on your purchase! It sounds like your off on a good start. I found my 69 mach1 on craigs list and was pleased with what I paid but it looks like you are off and running already on your project.
Good luck. It can be a lot of fun when you find a bargain.
