Default Side Pipes Anyone

I love side pipes. Having said that, I should say I have never owned any. If I can help it my 67 coupe will have them.

Does any one have any experience with them?
Can you get muffled sets that aren't too obnoxious?
How bout some mustang pics that have them installed.

I'm talking about the external kind (see Pic). This set is on a Ranchero, but I invision meatier ones for my ride, much like the old vettes.

Any conversartion is welcome.

I love side pipes also and i think they would look fine on a mustang. I was going to get them for my '65 coupe but i wasn't sure if they would be legal because the guy that does the inspections on my car told my dad that the exhaust on my mustang had to come out behind the rear wheel. I would make sure that they will be legal and if they are then go for it. These are the ones i was looking at: Summit Racing.

Question??? If a car has side pipes and starts blowing oil out of them isn't there somekind of fear that it will get on the tires causing a loss in traction?

On an early Vette, yes they look good. On an early Mustang, Not so much
Just my opinion

If you are blowing oil out of your tailpipes you better quit driving it, and have the motor rebuilt...

Let me introduce you to my '67 Coupe with that exact set up you're looking at

I think it looks fantastic, they're not as loud as one would think, especially since mine are straight pipe, but they sound and look great. I get stopped all the time and get compliments on it, people love it

P.S. They're perfectly legal, the rule is that they must exit BEHIND the farthest back door. So since we're only 2 doors, aslong as the pipes exit behind your door, it's fine.

Check your state law some say it has to exit out the back.

That's what I'm talking about. Thanks Faith No More! (I have sent you a PM for more details if you could share) I really like the looks. And I'm not too worried about legality. I will check into it however just so I know what stand to take if I should get pulled over. Missouri is pretty forgiving on issues like this and I have a pretty good range of friends in my community that should lend itself to getting around a few little exhaust laws.

Any more Side Pipe Rebels out there?

Ya, the speed bumps can be vicious, I rarely scrape unless they're some particularly gnarly bumps haha. but generally if you take it nice and slow over them, it wont be a problem. Hasn't been for me

Hell, the speed bumps can get you even if you have regular pipes out the back.

65 fastback dragster with side pipes. Pretty cool looking but probably not ok for road use...
