Amy your VIN# is to short to run through Ford's VIN Decoder, the number has to be at least 17 digits long. But I have a few connections, they have a research center if you don't mind waiting. You can call FORD directly, the number is: ( 800-392-3673 ) tell them what you want to do. They may put it through, their research center for you and they're pretty good about it, Mike. SCT Tuner. P.S. Good Luck.

For a 1965 the VIN will begin with the number 5 followed by a letter, followed by two numbers, followed by a letter, then followed by six numbers. Please check your VIN again.

Amy, I can tell you that is not a Ford vin for a 1965 Mustang. It may be possible that is a state issued vin.

You vin number should start with a 5 for 1965. Next should be a letter indicating which plant it was manufactured in, then a 2 digit number for (coupe, convertible or fastback), then a letter indication the engine that it came with, then a 6 digit number indicating the unit number.

This is what a classic vin should look like. 5R08A126808

We were both typing at the same time. I guess you hit the submit key quicker.

Hello.
It looks as if you are getting that vin from off of the title instead of off the car itself. The vin is stamped in three spots on your car, one of which is clearly visible if you open the hood and look at the little cut-out on the driver's side fender lip. If you drop that first letter 'R' , what you have almost makes sense, as in it could be 5F08C266426. Is your car a convertible by any chance?
