Default Comp Cam and Cloyes 2x roller timing chain

MORE PICS BELOW

Ok, so in the past week I ordered up the hydraulic flat tappet Comp Cam Magnum 270 ($119.00 Summit). Advertised .500 lift 270 duration and installed it. Kind of a messy process with lubing each lobe up with break in lube and hitting all the journals with conventional motor oil, but none the less its in.

Also threw on the Cloyes Street True Roller 2x Timining chain set ($42.00) and ordered all new ARP cam sproket bolt, ARP timing chain cover bolt set, and ARP oil pan bolt kit. I actually had to drill a stock type bolt out from the block last week because it snapped the head off. My fault though i was using 15 FOOT pounds for the oil pan bolts instead of 15 INCH pounds. I guess i should not drink as much Keystone next time! Here are some more pics.

Have you given any thought to going with an under drive pully system vs. a standard v-belt ? Asthetically pleasing and a little less drag on the engine.

Nice lookin motor build !!!. Are you going with stock distributor and electronic points ? I did, really works well on mine. Are you running any special on the heads ?

I would really like to see someone build a 289 or 302 and marry up a set of cleveland heads on it. I bought a couple sets of cleveland heads in case i get a burr up my a$$ and decide to build one for fun.

As far as the distributor goes I will do exactly that. I will run MSD cap and internals. As far as the heads I am looking at AFR 185's now. Prolly a little bigger intake runner than i need but if I ever decide to sauce, blow, or boost the car I will have heads that can handle it, and their only 50 bucks more than the 165's. Thats about as special as it gets. lol.

My father in law has a 65 with a 200 in it and i swear that thing sounds like a v8 when you tack it up. If plan on keeping the 200 and nice aftermarket intake and exahuast set up with a 2bbl would prolly haul a$$

I stayed with stock distributor and just replaced the points with the pertronics electronic points and flame thrower coil. I used an adjustable mechanical vacuum advance and got it dialed in quite well.

My neighbor down the street is building a 302 for his '65 Falcon. He's installed a lunatic cam I tried like h&ll to get him to use a set of 351 cleveland heads I have but he had already bought his intake. He rebuilt a set of 351W heads and has them ready to go on.

Keep us posted on your motor build. Once you get it breathing, i'd like to see it. Have you thought about the pumkin run next year ? I was disapointed in the showing of stangs a couple weeks ago. I figure it must have been due to the weather we had

Yeah I was at the Pumpkin Run that Saturday night with my boy. I hope to have it looking sharp for that next year no doubt. Did you see the red 67 4 spd with the 428 in it inside the track? It had some chrome torque thrust wheels and black vinyl top with no grill? That's my buddy's car and it is super clean if you saw it.

You going to Quaker Steak and Lube this sunday for the Stangbangerz cruise in? It will be newer stuff but I will be in my dudes turbo 95 if your going lemme know!

Yeah, i saw it. Nice ride !
I was looking for the guy from Chilicothe to be there that has the blue 68 shelby fatsback gt500. Most beautiful 68 fastback all orginal shelby you ever laid eyes on. He has a 66 gt-350 fastback as well. They are both sweet rides. He was not there and i imagine it was because of the mud and the weather. Same reason I did not show up with my 66.

I doubt if i'll go to the steak and lube. Its too cold for me to get the rag top out and my 68 just came back from paint ( see it delivered on the rollback) and has the interior totally gutted out right now.

I hate to admit it but its a GM color. Some of the S-10's and blazers were painted this color. its "Space Blue Metalic".

I know i wanted it blue but it took me 4 months to decide and find the blue I felt would fit the body style. I parked next to an S-10 in a walmart parking lot one morning and decided that was the color.
