Default carb spacer replacement

PLEASE, help me. I have a 1973 coupe 302 2 barrel and while changing the gasket for the vacumm whatever located just behind the carb (seemed as if i was leaking something from there)
the bolts were over tightened and the carb spacer broke!
Do I kneed to use a 73 spacer or do I just need to match the 2 barrel?

If I was to want to replace the 2b for a 4b is this ALOT more than esentially just a place new carb(with new gaskets) on top of a new spacer and screw it in?

You can get a 2bbl carb spacer from any parts store.Just tell them the year and make.Make sure you measure the depth of the spacer before you get one.As far as a 2bbl to 4bbl conversion that means you will have to replace the whole intake. If you're running a stock small block(302) it won't make allot of difference anyway.Unless you're planning on doing some mods.

Either way you want to do it, it's a very simple job. If you want to keep the two barrel, it would be cheaper to do you won't have to replace the intake, Mike. SCT Tuner.

So to change the spacer I .................
"undo" the carb @ lift off...
remove old spacer
prepare faces for gaskets
put the spacer down
put carb on top @ tighten to specs. (?lbs)
Did I mis anything?

What have I done!

Default carb spacer

pulled off the carb, got to the metal spacer..yea me!
NOW>>>what the heck is the thing @ the back of the spacer???
It appeared to be a vaccume or somethin or other. It also appeared
to be blocked off @ the spacer by a THICK gasket??????
Can I just get a 2bbl spacer that does not feature this?

Default 2bbl carb spacer replacement

Hello nikellty,
That part that is broken is most likely part of the smog set up.
What attaches to it?

See my PM for more questions.

Before you replace the spacer be sure that the other parts of the smog set-up
are not being used. It could also be a passage for heat the controls the choke, not sure. If we knew what attaches to it, perhaps we could figure it out.

As others have suggested, you may be able to just replace it with a ported spacer.

Not too many dual vacuum distributor advances around, motor must be pretty original
