Question Seat belt Mounting in a 1964 1/2 Mustang

My wife and I have decided that we want to put seat belts in the front and back of our 64 1/2. We just finished putting the new floor pans in so the interior is completely out. What is the best way to go about this? Thanks for any and all help.

Default Do you want original seat belts?

Do you want to add original '65 - '66 style belts or 3-point retractible belts?

We're only interested in putting in the original-style lap belts.

Default I would get some of the universal seat belts and mount in there....

I would get some of the univeral seat belts that look original and mount there - I know Virginia Classic Mustang had some for $12 - $15 a piece - they would mount in front or back, and came in colors that should match the original interior.

The hardest part will be finding the spot to mount them since you don't already have holes for the mounting brackets.

If there is not a spot there, I may have some pics where I point the right spot out - I will try to look for that when I get home

Default I do not have any pics...........

I do not have any pics with the seat belt bolt holes in my interior.
Surely someone has a pic of their '65 - '66 with no carpet so you can see where to mount the seat belts.
I will keep looking and see if I can find something - I had the same issue in my '65, but don't remember where I found pics of the mounting holes from another car that had seatbelts.

Thanks for your help, Cobra6. I'm kind of surprised at how few people have given any sort of input. Is putting seatbelts into a 65 that uncommon?

Default I don't think this is unusual.

I don't think this is unusual.

I will be yanking the interior out of my '66 this weekend and I will take some pics of the seat belt bolt holes for you.

Send me a PM as a reminder so I don't forget

Default OK

Check this out - a picture of where the front belts mount to the hump - you should have this square raised area on the transmission tunnel - you can see the curve at the rear of the floor pan. Le tme know if this helps.

Default The other front mount...

This gives you a good idea of where the original mounts are on the front - You can zoom in and I have a circle around the mounting hole.
