Default 1966 mustang rear end swap...

New to forum

working on 1966 289 AT coupe...restoring to daily driver status with my 17 year old son.

Good news is it drives and runs enough for around town use now!

Question of the day - swapping out rear end.

Local guy has a Ford 8.8 93 rear end, 3.73 gearing with posi and discs. Claims it matches to 93 cobra.

We are wondering if this would be a good candidate to swap for our original rear end, or if we are taking on a big challenge a bit too early?

all thoughts and advice welcomed.

You have to cut off all the mounting tabs weld on spring perches. And i believe the axle is wider so custom back spacing rims or your rear wheels will stick out.
