Default 351C rebuild update

A while ago i posted questions about rebuilding a 351C. At one point we decided to not rebuild that motor....

But good news! We are building it up. We just received the forged crank, rods, pistons and rings, camshaft, and lifters yesterday. The pistons look pretty serious, no real skirt at all. The pins are full floating.

The crank is a stroker and should make it 393ci. The cam is matched to the rest of the system; but because of budget issues the factory head and intake will be going back on, for now. And someone dropped the Motorcraft carb so a Holly 750 is on it's way. Once some more money comes in, Brock heads and intake will be ordered.

In a few weeks some attention will be payed to the tranny. It's a C6 with a higher stall and extra clutches. But it's probably in as bad of shape as the motor was so a rebuild is in order.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. It will be going into a 73 mach1 just so you know.

yeah, u should post lots and lots of pics. u should put oil restrictors, since u have the engine in pieces already. i heard 2v stock valves aint to good, u might be good with the 4vs. get an aluminum carb, zinc holleys get messed up here cuz of nitrogen enriched gas.

what do you mean oil restrictors? we got a high volume pump for it...the tube is too long to fit the pan, even though it was shipped as a set.

351c has a oiling system flaw, where to much oil is focused on getting to the cam, not on the crank, so they thread and install these little restrictors on the orifices on the main bearings to minimize the amount of oil going to the cam. some people say they aint needed, others stress the need. idk i say its better safe than to be sorry. theyre highly recommended for high revving c engines. i got a book on 351c's all the dudes that drag raced the c back in the 70's used them, gap and roush had them on their drag pintos. heres a link, 22050 for clevelands, designed by jack roush himself moroso restrictors. u should look up on it. ppl also ran an external line, from the front plug by the fuel pump, to the rear plug, or a sandwhich styled oil filter bypass to a split, that ran oil directly to the rear of the block, and a line drilled threw the back of the block, pumping oil straight to the mains. crazy stuff. got the cs to rev over 7k with thoose aps.
