Default where to find serial number on 1970 Mustang fastback

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 70 fastback.....MY ultimate dream car...she NEEDS a LOT of HELP.

WHERE is and how many places can I find the serial number on this car? I looked on the fender apron and could not see it or find it. He did say the car had been in an accident (was the apron replaced).
Any ideas here????

Did you check the passenger side fender apron too? I know it's there on the 69's. Not sure about 70's though.

The follow up question........is there a way to register this car without those two tags?

RPM, check the top of the shock towers themselves. I've seen a few 69s/70s that the stamps were further back and overlapping onto the shock tower metal. This goes for both sides.

The door tag, if original, but being an actual sticker you can't do a rubbing......I guess you figured that out.

The dash tag would be on the driver's side, possibly caught under the dash pad if it's been replaced.

If the motor is original it should have a partial or full VIN on top of the block between the intake and bell housing. A very good cleaning of this area should reveal it.

I don't know what TX has for registration requirements. How did the current owner register it? Hopefully he/she has some paperwork.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Jay he's going to try to find the paperwork.....it doesn't look hopeful. But the car is better than 90 % of the fastbacks out there. It's rough but NOT that rough. So I'm willing to take the chance on it.

The VIN on my '70 is stamped into the top of the shock tower panel, but it's covered by the flange of the fender. The fender must be removed to see it.

Yeah the 69-73 ford didn't cut out the fender to show the vin so you gotta take the fender off to really see it on either side.

Hi. You might be able to see it by just loosening or taking off the top bolts on the finder. I was able to do that on my 69. By using a flash light I could see it clear enough but mine may have had a bigger gap than others. Good luck.

The numbers on the passenger and driver aprons are only partial vin numbers on a 1970 and yes they are under the fenders flange. The one that counts is the VIN on the drivers side dash, seen through the windshield. If you dont have that you wont be able to title it unless the title you got when you bought it was a title from your state.

Okay dumb question......the authenticity of the car IS NOT important to me. I simply want the car and the documentation is not important.
Can you BUY a serial off a junk?

I think we all know the answer to that one. Walk away from it.

With no vin the state can give you a vin but then the cars value is cut in half.
