Hello.

Why, thank you, Denne. That's very sweet of you.

As luck would have it, I'm familiar with this car, and that's waaay too much money. Starting with the motor, it has the wrong balancer, as has already been noted, which means it probably has the wrong entire spinning assembly. That might not sound like a big deal to some, but, it would cost you about 400 bucks to get the right balancer, and a set of hipo main bearing caps will cost you about a grand. It has the wrong fuel pump. Again, you might be thinking that a fuel pump costs about 40 bucks, however, the Carter 4201S fuel pump will cost you, again, about a grand. And that's after you spend a year or two finding one.

It has the wrong carburetor. The right carburetor is a 600cfm Autolite 4100 with a manual choke and, for that car, would be the C6ZF-9510-F. The carb used on all hipo Mustangs was hipo Mustang specific, and not used on anything else, and, with that car having come with an automatic transmission, which wasn't even available on a K code until the beginning of the 66 model year, this particular carb is the rarest of the K code carbs. What that translates to is that the right carb will cost you about 4 grand if you can find one in the next couple of years. After that, who knows? I doubt if the price will start coming down, though.

This car also has the wrong intake, which will set you back another four hundred or so. It does have one hipo head on the driver's side. The passenger side, you can't tell from the photos, but, I can't imagine that it has the wrong head on the other side. The hipo heads are completely different from the other 289 heads. The person taking the pictures was apparently careful to not get a good shot of the fan, but, it looks like the wrong one. Again, the right one will cost about a grand.
As for the body, there aren't any pictures of the undercarriage to show if it's actually a K code body, but, it does say that the car has had the entire floor pan replaced, so, I'm confident that all of the places that had something K code specific have been replaced. You can't really tell from the pictures, but, it looks like the hole in the firewall for the manual choke cable is missing. The presence of a hole that isn't supposed to be there doesn't really mean much. Anyone can poke a hole in a car, and, people do that all the time. However, the absence of a hole that is supposed to be there is a whole 'nuther thing.

The vin stamping on the inner fender looks like it has been cut out of another car and welded into this one. That could have been part of a repair because the inner fender had to be replaced, or, it could be that this car is exactly what it appears to be. A re-body. I do know that this guy has been trying to sell this car for quite a while, and hasn't been able to.
Based just on what I've said so far, this car is brutally over-priced. But, I do know a guy that has actually looked at this car, and, as far as I can tell, anyway, this guy knows everything.

When I have a question about these cars, he's the person I ask. I do know this, though, without even asking. Someone was interested enough in buying that car to pay him to go up to Dallas and look at it for them, and then that person didn't buy the car.
