Exclamation warning about a mustang mecanic

As some of you know I just bout my first car, a 67 mustang coupe, the first time we looked at it had a good strait body, no real cancer, and ran grate. Now of course it had the normal problems, the engine needed cleaning it needed a new int. paint job the steering was pretty loose and the brakes where really bad...... well you get the point it was in over all good shape and after driving it I was in love, so we went ahead and bout it. Now one of the things I really liked about it was it had a REAL wood dash and gauge cluster. As I said I bout it but I could not pick it up for a few of weeks which wasn't a big deal because the brakes needed to be done before it went any where, and Andy being the owner of a mustang shop (Andy's classic mustangs in spoken WA) offered to do the brakes and steering for me at a discounted price, so I agreed to it. Later that week Andy called and said he had don the brakes and steering and had DRIVEN it down the rode and it did grate, but was charging me full price and claimed that he never said he would give me a discount. OK it could of just been a misunderstanding and I was piking up the car in less than a week any way. A few days later we go to pick up the mustang and Andy is in a really big hurry to shoo us out of their, when we get home my mom and I got in the mustang (my dad drove it home while we followed )you know kinda hyped and checking out the new car, well as soon as we get in we noted that the wood dash and gauge cluster has been replaced with a cracked plastic one naturally we are not at all happy about this, we put a stop check on the remaining $400. Andy calls the next day and he said that their never was a wood dash and that he hadn't even been in the car sense we bout it. Hmm dos any one see a problem with this pic. because hadn't he told me that he had driven it to make sure that the brakes and steering where all right. My dad told him that we KNOW their had been a wood dash because as soon as my mom and I had pointed it out he remembered telling us that he had never seen a wood dash in the 67 before. All of a sudden Andy says that their had been a wood grain sticker on the dash ( WHICH IS NOT TRUE IT WAS REAL WOOD)and that it had looked hoky so he took it off, hold that that didn't he just say that he hadn't been in the car sens we bout it. Unfortunately I don't have any prof that it did have a wood dash and cant afford to replace what I now know was a deluxe addition int. I just found out that my brothers friend that has a 08 mustang GT, took his car to Andy and Andy stole a $2000 part off it. Well at least he dropped the crap about the $400 hmm cant see why he would do that if he didn't do any thing.

That was painful....I don't spell everything correctly but jeez. I would not call the shop owner out until you feel you have exhausted all means of making things right. A goober at his shop may have stolen your dash without his knowledge.

Hey man I feel for you...But you NEED to learn to type. I got through your entire post but not without a severe headache trying to decipher your misspellings.

As far as the dash goes...was this Andy the guy you bought the car from? If not the previous owner would certainly be able to back you up on the situation. If Andy was the original owner and you don't have any pictures to prove that it was there I think you're just out of luck.

First off call the Better Business Bureau, then contact Consumer Affairs in your State. Let them deal with this guy, trust me you might find your dash delivered to your door after he finds out you filed a complaint about his shop. And if he doesn't know, tell him you have pictures of the dash and leave it at that. It sounds like he's admitting to his guilt, just by the fact that he's not going after you for the $400.00 check you stopped payment on, Mike. SCT Tuner. P.S. Next time do your research, on the shop your about to do business with, Mike.

But I guess I should of checked on that before I bought a car from him.

Whew! that is more like it. I was beginning to think this guy is too stupid to own a mustang. If you have exhausted all means, the BBB is a good idea. If that doesn't work there is always arson! Just kidding.

What "real wood" dash did you have? Because 1967 Mustang never came with a wooden dash, and any factory dash would have been wooden style stickers over the plastic but they did not add that option until 1968.
1967's deluxe dashes were Aluminum.

Andy has been in business a long time and has a pretty good rep in the industry. So...you are claiming that he removed all of the panels all the way across the dash? When I worked for California Mustang we sold those Decal kits for like $38 they were dicut and you just stuck them over the original camera case, they did not last very long unless you really prepped the surface and cleaned which 99% of people did not do. I doubt it was a real wood dash.

Something just does not add up here.

I with you bro, there are some real scoundrals in the car market these days, the "authorized" Kenne Bell dealer in Clearwater FL was basically run out of town for running some kinda "lost" blower scam with UPS, post this kinda thing and let all the good people know what's what and who cannot be trusted, that is the power of the internet!

My mom and I took a real good look at it and it was definitely not a sticker. I am not saying that it was definitely original for that car because it could of been added later, all I know is I found a 69 parts car with the same wood dash and gauge cluster and they wanted $800 for it. and I forgot to mention that the gauges where broken in half when we got it home, and they where in perfect shape when we first looked at it.

1969 deluxe interior...also not real wood...they would emboss the grain pattern on a thick decal and stick it on. They did not come with real wood dashes. The guages were broken in half? Please post a pic because that does not make any sense.

Did your dash look like this (Below)

Well as I said before I am not saying that the dash was original all I am saying is that it was their when we first looked at it. OK lets just say that it was just a sticker, he still did two things 1. he removed something that was in the car at the time of the sale without my consent 2. I know that the dash that was in it at the time of sale was not broken. I know I was not real clear as far as the gauges, I did not mean that all the gauges where broken, but the gas gauge is broken in half so you can not tell how much gas is in it, as a result we ran out of gas on the way home. I know the gas gauge was not broken when we first looked at it because one of the things we checked was to make sure that all the gauges worked, and I think we would of kinda noticed that their was only half a gas gauge. And as I sated before, a part also went missing on my brothers friends mustang that he took in to have some work done on. The cost of the part is not what I am concerned about, my main concern is that this dos not happen to other people.

Sorry about your whole situation, but I really want to know about the real wood dash. Like the other guy was saying, the deluxe dash was a thick sticker. I mean did you actually take it off and found it weighed a ton? It just sounds really cool.
