Default 1969 mach 1 roof pillar emblem question

Where can I find the mounts that attach them to the car. My car didn't have the emblems when I bought them. I've bought the emblems which are sold by the various venders but nobody seems to sell the mounts that attach the emblems to the car. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

The studs were originally welded to the C pillar and I've never seen them sold anywhere. A trick is to use self tapping screws (try to get stainless) as new "studs". The screw head will hold the emblem on, you just need to turn the screw to adjust the height until the emblem fits snug.

Keep in mind the emblems should be installed so the horse runs torwards the front of the car. That's how they were from the factory although you may find some on restored cars running the wrong way.

Thanks. Any idea on the measurements of the. Distance the screws should be apart and how high to leave the heads above the surface. Anything special to keep water out of the holes besides what the screws seal up themselves? Also, I take it you want to put these in before painting.

Unless you are dead set on being original just use some 3M automotive grade tape, all modern emblems are held on this way. On Project King Ranch we built at my Blog (1975 Ford Supercab F250 built to look like a modern King Ranch) all the King Ranch Emblems, fender flares, and most of the trim uses 3M tape.

Never thought of the tape! That would be very easy to use.

I do not know the measurement, hopefully someone on here can measure thier emblem location.

If you do use screws put RTV on the threads before installing. That will keep the moisture out plus act like "Loctite" and keep the screws from loosening.

If you go the tape route I don't know if this will be of any use, but I measured the emblem location on my 69 fastback. The front pin is about 5" up from crease there where the quarter pannel starts to flare out. Holding your tape measure level, that pin is also about 3 13/16" back from the chrome for the vent window and the pins are 1 13/16" apart on center.(these measurments are all on center) Due to the rise from that flare on the rear quarter, the back pin is about 4 7/8" from the crease. Sorry if these are to confusing but hopefully they can give you an idea of where they go.
