Default Paint questions

I am about to paint my 65 conv. the original Vintage Burgundy. Does anyone know if this color was originally metallic? I plan on painting the car Single stage Urethane. Any thoughts positive or negative. I have read it makes for a nice deep look finish and is easier to maintain. I know that base coat clear coat will stay nicer longer and is shinier. But I figure, it's not like the Urethane is going to look bad in a couple of years and if it's easy to maintain I am ready to do the work. Also I live in Canada, so it's not like we get Arizona type sunshine. Any comments would be appreciated.

just check the paint code X on a 64-67 ford mustang, and the formula calls for med aluminum,(thats a metalic toner ).
