Default Should my 1964 1/2 Mustang have cast pulleys?

I'm in the process of restoring a 1964 1/2 Mustang and I'm unsure if it came with the cast pulleys associated on the early production cars. It's a 260, 3spd. with no add on's like no PS, AC, or PB. Parts of the front end had been replaced due to an accident back in the day and it currently has stamped pulleys on it with C5 markings. It has a build date of June 30th 1964 from Dearborn. Any help is much apprecaited.

Hello. There isn't really any way to know for sure on a car as late as yours, but, if possible, I would go with the cast iron pulleys if you still have the generator. They just look cooler, in my opinion. If you are running an alternator, the cast iron water pump pulley will hit the triangular alternator bracket, making the point moot, since you wouldn't be able to use the cast iron pulleys anyway.

I've been searching the internet and haven't ran across any yet. Would another Ford line have had these pulleys also, like the Falcon or Comet??? Could I use these or would the part numbers be a dead give-away that they were not off a Mustang. Thanks

Hi again. The Mustangs didn't have Mustang-specific pulleys. I went and poked around the house and found a couple of water pump pulleys and crankshaft pulleys, but, they're the two groove water pump pulleys and four groove crank pulleys that where used on A/C--power steering cars. The casting numbers are, on the water pump pulley, C2OE-8509-D and on the crank pulley, C3OE-6312-C. That should help with tracking them down. They actually aren't that hard to locate. You just have to go to people that deal in both new and used vintage mustang parts. Kind of a boneyard that also carries new repop stuff.

Hi again. I just found a 3-groove crankshaft pulley and, the casting number on that one is C2OE-6312-C. That's the one that you would want, The single groove water pump pulleys don't have a casting number on them. I guess they did that just to add to the fun of tracking one down.
