My question is - If I start a thread (cowl repair) days or weeks ago and I am doing a follow up as the process goes do I start another thread so that newbies/people that have not seen it can look at it or does it pull back to the top as each time a post is made??

You should continue updating in the same thread as long as it's the same topic.

When you post in a thread that thread goes to the top again. It goes in order from most recent posts.
