Default How do i get the value of my classic 69'Mach1?

I have full coverage insurance with AllState on my Mach1.I was wondering what if i were to get in an accident or the car get stolen how does the insurance co get the value of the car.The car has been in the family for 32yr's.No amount of money would buy this car(to many memory's,and good times with my mom & dad). I don't like to leave it anywhere for fear of theifs or vandals.I am very protective of my baby!I hope this is not a stupid question.

Ask AllState. Remember insurance companies will screw any way they can.

I've got full coverage on mine too. State Farm has a value of the car in my policy. Of course it's only HALF what the car is really worth! I will be changing to one of the classic car insurers very soon as they insure your car to an agreed value.

Hello. You would need to get an appraisal on the car. That generally costs something in the hundred to a hundred and fifyt dollar range. Most of the classic car insurance companies won't cover daily drivers. They would have mileage restrictions, the car would have to stay in a garage, can't be used for purposes other than going to and from shows, parades, the occassional pleasure cruise, that sort of stuff.

I have my 67 daily driver insured with Allstate. I talked to my agent directly, and he was able to get me an agreed value policy that will pay a reasonable amount for (heaven forbid) a total loss. I had to get a professional appraisal (about $125, like V says), and the car is covered for $20K. I can drive it anywhere, anytime. Only downside is the premium is similar to what a "normal" car would be, but that;s the way it is.

I have an agreed value ($25,000) policy with J.C. Taylor. It's a full coverage policy and it costs me $206/year. You can get an instant quote online at their website - http://www.jctaylor.com/

If you have a value of $30,000 and above, you need to have an appraisal.

Basic car insurance companies essentially go for the kelly's Blue Book value. My '67 mustang coupe is insured for 9k currently.

My classic Mini is covered based upon what NADA values it at, with progressive insurance.

I just went thru this with a truck I had to fix at work. The owner of a 1977 f250 was hit by someone else and they were only going to give him $1500 for the truck. The truck was by no means a show peice but a very clean driver. I had to replace the door and bedside and straighten the cab corner. He wound up paying out of pocket and hired a lawyer to go get what he deserves. The total job was done for around $3000. He was only carring standard full coverage on the truck. I would say it probably has a realistic value of $5-6000 thousand dollars. Please do your research before buying a policy.
