Does anyone have directions on how to put together and install deluxe wooden steering wheel? It is for 1966 Mustang, I am replacing the hard black one for now. Purchased wheel on craigslist, and purchased items like horn and cap else where. But I have not idea how to put the darn thing together. All the sites so various techniques, but none show the actual instructions. If any one has instructions or can direct me that would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone.

CJ, I assume you bought the grant classic wheel correct ? did you also buy the adapter / mounting kit ?

Here's the installation instructions.

Hello. :) I've been meaning to do this for the longest, so, I guess now is the time. I have a couple of old deluxe steering wheels, so I'll go ahead and disassemble and re-assemble one, taking pictures every step of the way this weekend. :)

thanks guys, it is the deluxe steering wheel not the grant wheel. Diagram helps to determine the missing items i need to purchase and to put it together. pictures of the installations would be great if youy get the chance. :cooldude:

Hi again. :) Here's a quick overview of how that goes together. Basically, you have four components. The steering wheel, the three-legged horn button, and two rings on the back side of the steering wheel, along with the attaching hardware.

Turn the steering wheel over, place the three-legged horn button on the back of the steering wheel and place the smaller ring on the back as shown in the first picture. Then place the larger ring on the back of the wheel as shown in the second picture. Flip the wheel over while holding the rings in position with your hand and run the screws in from the front as shown in the third picture. This wheel has one screw missing because it was scavenged for a good steering, but, it's supposed to be one of the screws with the spring on it and it goes in place indicated by the red arrows. :)
