i've never seen a front bench on a mustang, but I've only looked at '67 and later and more racers than anything. Check the VIN I'm not sure if it would tell you or not.

I'll elaborate a little further.

The vin numbers, listed under body on the plate, should show two numbers and a letter. The letter, for a bench seat 66, should be a "C".

The vin plate, with this info, should be on the end of the driver side door where the latch is located. As long as nobody swapped doors and plates you should learn the background on this car.

If you match the vehicle warranty number on the door, the long series of numbers, with the second plate located under the hood on the driver side fender and it's a match then this will take it a step further to confirm the validity of the plate on the door. Again if nobody has changed the fender.

Is it rare? Let's just say the last thing I would want to do to restore such a vehicle would be to restromod the vehicle. In other words go concourse or to restore it bone factory production is the way to go. Then show me the $$$.

it was a factory option, and it is somewhat rare, but just because it might be rare doesn't mean that it's valuable

I suppose I should stand corrected on something I said. I said "Show me the $$$". In reality, if all was done professionally in restoring this particular coupe and you think you might get rich off this deal - then think again. At the most, in my corner of the world, if the cosmetics and mechanics is in great shape and there is zip rust, then maybe 10 to 12. More or less. But, it really narrows the field of buyers when the price goes up. The bench helps the pricing and to have a appraisal done might be good to go with when everything is in place and looking factory sharp.

Hello.First, let me say welcome. As has been said,it was indeed an available option and the body style would be 65C,which would be on the warranty plate riveted to the D/S door, right below the door latch. The bench seat certainly won't help the value, but it really doesn't hurt it on a coupe either. The Mustangs were marketed as being 'sporty' cars, unlike grampa's Galaxie 500,which normally had a bench seat to compliment many other old dude features. If a person wanted a car with the old fogey styling, they would get a Galaxie,(which was available with a dual quad 427),not try to make a mustang look like a scaled down version of the Galaxie.I used to hate the bench seats, but recently I seem to find them more comfortable than the buckets....NOOOO!! I'm becoming an old fogey!!HEEEEELLP!!!

I have a 66 with a bench seat. My father bought it in the summer of 66 just out of college. His reasoning for getting the bench seat was it was easier to "make out" with the bench seat.

wow, I just read all of this thinking it was a new thread until veronica said that and I checked the dates. Wonder if the value is still the same on a bench seat coupe. I'd still prefer the bucket seats, but that's just me.

Hi again. I like the benches. They are a lot more comfortable, but, the buckets are 'sportier', and, that's what most of them came with, so, that's kind of what people expect to see in them. I wouldn't put a bench seat in a car that didn't come with it, but, I wouldn't mind finding a nice, really early convertible that came with one, especially if it was like a K code that was built in the first week of june in 64.

Hi again. I must beg to differ. Just because there are certain comforts typically enjoyed by old fogeys that I also enjoy, that does not, in and of itself, make me an old fogey. . I am still a mere kitten of barely 35 years.
