Default Need Advise! Have 1966 with 3 speed automatic and want to swith to manual Tranny.

Hey I have a 66 with the original 3 speed automatic. I want to switch out the transmission to either a 5 or 6-speed manual. Have any idea of the costs and pros/cons? Thanks a ton.

From what I understand there are kits available that make a T5 pretty much a bolt in project. 6 speed is another story completely, from what I understand you must alter the hump in your car to make it work due to the size of the tranny.

your engine might rip up a T5, yet a Tremic will not fit well in your tranny hump. You will need a 66 (yes, they are year specific) brake pedal and clutch pedal just to start. As for the tranny, how much do you want to spend? You can do a T5 with mostly junk yard parts, a Tremic 5 or 6 speed will cost a bit more.....
