Arrow How many Shelby's were made in 68?

My husband wants to find out how many Shelby GT350's were made in 1968. How would I find that out? Also what colors were offered. I know lime gold because that is what we had on our car orginally, although we repainted it blue thirty years ago. But, where would I find what others?

He is very interested in restoring it. He called Barrett Jackson car auctions to find out who does good restorations. While they said they do not give recommendations, they mentioned that Shelby was remaking the cars and suggested trying them for advice. So, he called Shelby and eventually wheedled a recommendation out of them for someone in the mid-west who could do the work. He called that place and - Whew, its expensive. He was told that about a thousand hours go into a restoration @ $53 an hour - so $53,000. They said one of their restorations sold at auction for over $200,000. Is that really what a perfectly factory restored Shelby goes for? Doesn't seem right - way to much.

Anyone know of a way to determine the value of an old Shelby? Before restoration? Some guy who was driving a beauty told my husband yesterday that an unrestored one was worth between 30 and 50 thousand. The guy had paid that himself for one in pieces - then paid to restore it. He says he has over 90 thousand in his car. It looks great, but I think he got taken.

We own ours already, but I do not want to put more into it than it is worth. Is there a way to determine the value of collectible cars? A book or website with prices in them that similar vehicles actually sold for? Thanks.

Hello.1,253 GT-350 fastbacks, 404 GT-350 convertibles,1,140 GT-500 fastbacks,402 GT-500 convertibles,933 GT-500KR fastbacks,318 GT-%00KR convertibles.The colors available were raven black,acapulco blue,lime gold,wimbledon white,highland green,candyapple red and gold metallic.
Shops that specialize in Shelbys are very expensive. It would be very difficult to say what the car is worth without actually seeing it, but a non-running, lime gold, rusty 68 GT-350 is not worth anything close to 50K. You can buy pretty nice, running , driving 68 GT-350s for 50K pretty much all day.The cars bringing the big bucks at Barrett-Jackson are 100pt perfect concours cars, and it is common knowledge that the individuals buying the cars there are paying waaaaay too much for them.If you could post some pictures of the car, or possibly email them to me,especially the problem areas, I could give you some suggestions on how best to proceed to end up with a reall pretty, fun car to ride around in.Hope that helps.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. As usual, what you say makes sense. I have long thought that the car was only worth a little, even if the market has been going up for them. I figured that fixed up it might be worth $26 - 28,000. It's not a show car. It has all its original parts though.

I can not easily take pictures, it is in a confined space, covered in a tarp and surrounded by all sorts of stored things, bikes, hoses, etc. Not simple to get to, but I will see what I can do. I should have taken pictures of it when we had it outside for a week a few years ago before moving it into this barn from our old one.

However, I can say that about 40 people spotted it from the road, or heard about it from someone who had, and stopped by to ask if it was for sale. I was flabbergasted. I had no idea that there was such interest in Shelby's. We had to cover it with a tarp and put sawhorses across our entrance to discourage interested but unwanted visitors from coming in and examining it. It was quite an experience.
