Default How do you remove a 68 mustang steering wheel?

Ok I just got a 68 Mustang and want to replace the giant steering wheel with one that is smaller. I do not know what I need to do to get the wheel off. I have the cover off, the horn piece off, the nut off, and the spring off. I just dont see how I am going to take the actual steering wheel off. Do you need a steering wheel puller or something like that? There is a screw that is on the back side that I can't get out. Can someone please help me out on this one?

Yes, you can get one pretty cheap at autozone, or any parts place.

What kind of conversion kit do I need to mount the other steering wheel on the column?

I think most of the time the steering wheel comes with a conversion kit. At least thats how it was for my 68. good luck though.

Depends on the wheel you buy, I guess. If you put a Grant wheel on, make sure you get the right adapter kit for the car AND steering wheel you buy. I had the wrong kit and had mine off on on several times thinking I was doing something wrong.
Puller cost about me $15 at Autozone.

I just replaced the steering wheel in my 68 2 months ago. I didn't need a puller. I just sat in the seat and hit on the back of the steering wheel and it came right off. My Grant wheel came from Paddock with a kit.
