Hello. The number that you saw is actually C5OE-9425-A, which is the correct intake for any 65 model 4bbl 289 car.If you will look around the front of the intake, at about 2 O'clock from the distributor as you face the motor from the front of the car, you will see a three or four digit date code. The first digit is either a 4 or a 5 which is the year in which the intake was cast , the second digit will be a letter, which is the month and the last one or two digits will be the day of the month.Compare that with the scheduled production date on the door tag and see if that makes any sense.A car that was built in Sep. of 64 didn't come with an intake that was cast on Jan 65, nor would it have come with one dated May 3rd.Hope that helps.

Hi again. That would be 8/10/64.The second digit of your car would have to be either an 'F' or an 'R' for an intake that early.Dearborn and San Jose where the only plants building mustangs in aug of 64.If you could fill in the blanks for me on your vin, I can tell you if that intake could pass for the original. You vin should go like this. The first digit is the year model so yours would be a 5, the next one is the assembly plant which is eithr F, R or T, the 3rd and fourth are the body style, 07 is a coupe, 08 is a convertible and 09 is a fastback, the fifth is the 'A' and the last six are the sequential number. If the first part of the vin is 5R, then the last six should be very close to 128300.If it starts out 5F it should end with something like 256500.Hope that helps.
