Default The Bondo Blues...

I strongly dislike people who use Bondo on old vehicles BEFORE they make sure all the rust is sanded/grinds completely off.. & then slap a new paint-job on & sell it to me... without mention of it. Now 5-6 yrs later & the rust is winning the war & the Bondo is showin' itself... Oh well live & learn I reckon'. Was still a great car back in my highschool days when I bought it. Later.

Well there are two things you can do about it, a patch panel or replace the whole panel. Neither is exactly easy, but they each have their pro's and con's.

Yea, I'll be stripping all the paint/primer to bare metal (atleast what's left of it haha) & go from there as what will be repair'd & what will be replaced... After it's sand-blasted I'm hopin' to have the frame powder-coated, & then entire bottom end of the car Rhino-lined... gonna try to build it as "rust-proof" as I can this time around. Thanks for the reply. Later.

That sucks that you've got to take the whole thing down to bare metal like that. I've got to do the same with my 83. It was a NY car for most of it's life, so it's gotta be done. On the bright side, I think I discovered a 9 inch rear end underneath it a couple days ago when I was working on the rear brakes.

Sweet deal on the 9". Ha' My 72' Started it's life as a New York car as well; then the owner sold it to a Family member in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where it spent the bulk of the rest of it's life... & then I got it back in 2000 or 2001... So it's had the salt n' Ice upstate & the salt & sand down-state .... & then I was dummy & let it sit on the Beach every weekend While I was surfing when I was a highschooler. Later!
