Ok my brother needs to put in a new tranny. I hear the T5s are trash.. so what would be good. I heard the tremec 3550 are pretty good.. he needs something that can handle 400 HP engine.
Thanks

Well if he doesnt mind having a 4 speed, which the car would have originally came with if it was a stick, a Top Loader 4 speed can handle 400 hp with ease.

AstroPerformance can build T5s to withstand over 650hp, or there is the TKO500 which replaced the 3550 and the TKO600 which replaced the TKOII. In a perfect world, I'd run a built T5, they just fit better. It is however possible to do a no hack TKO500/600 install. Your choice

Default But..

I have done some reading on the net and it sounds as if 80% of the T-5s are failing in some form or another. I dont want that to happen to him. The TKO500 I havent heard anything bad about yet. Im just need to find out before he spends the money.
Thanks for you inputs everyone

That's true, for stock T5s. I'm talking about a T5 with a new mainshaft and gears, and billet stabilizer. The only real limit then is splitting the case.
