Default Where is my VIN

Okay, I feel like an ass asking this but where in the world is the VIN on a '67 hardtop? It isn't in the spot that it would normaly be on a newer vehicle, but the guy I bought it off of did replace the dash so maybe he didn't take it into consideration.

Help please!!

Driver side fender apron (under the hood, open in look at the top of the fender where it bolts to the apron which then forms the engine compartment)

Default Found my VIN, now you find yours

Hey thanks for your help. I found the VIN today. It was on the driver side fender on top basically just held there by a screw. I found a couple of websites that will help others find and investigate their VIN's. The VIN location site is

http://www.vehicleidentificationnumb...64-1973_2.html,

and they also have a decoder but it is limited in the information that it gives. A great decoder I found is at

autopedia.com/MustangPowWow/MustangPowWow22.html, once at this site click on 1964-1/2 to 1970 Data Plate Decoder, and you can actually put in the ID tag info and it will tell you everything.

Hope everyone finds this helpful.

Brad

uhhh...the vin is stamped into the fender apron...not screwed on.

You can validate by removing the passenger side fender and confirming the number matches the driver side.

The tag you found screwed in place may be the body buck tag. It will list the VIN plus other info such as color, interior, major options (if any), rotation number and welding bay.

If the drivers door is original and the tag is still there then the VIN would be there also, although they call it the 'vehicle warranty number' which is the same thing.

They didn't start putting the VIN in the dash visible through the windshield until the '68 model year. 68s were on the passenger side, and all others after that were on the drivers side.

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
