Where are the engine codes located?

I have a 66 with a V8 and I can not find the engine numbers on it any where?

Should be a roll of numbers behind the starter on the block. Also if the intake has not been changed it should have a set of numbers. Should start with C5 or C6. The C indicates the years of the sixties the 5 or 6 indicates the year Example C5=65 or C6 =66, example D1 =71 and so on. If that helps.
