Default In need of a bit of advice '66 coupe project

Hi everyone ! This is my first post since joining. Sure glad I found you guys !

I own a '66 GT coupe,4 speed manual,Wimbledon white in nice condition. All original from what I can tell. ALL numbers match etc.. Anyway........

I have a quick question: I've been driving past this primer gray '66 coupe 289, automatic which is in need of some TLC. I finally stopped today and inquired. Little rust (CA black plate) engine sounds great but leaks anti-freeze (might be freeze plug, not sure). Clear title,no data plate and looks as though someone used a grinder to remove it. Needs interior, gauges don't work and so on. One good project car. The guy wants $3,300 for it. Wondering if that's a fair price for it. It does need work but I'm thinking it might be worth the $ since the rust issues are minimal. What do you guys think? I'm open to ANY suggestions. Thanks so much and again.......I'm really glad I found you guys !

Steve

Welcome to AFM! That sounds like a bit much for what it is. Can you post some pictures?

If it was a fastback maybe. For a coupe I'd offer about $2500 at the most. That coolant leak could be a cracked block or cyl. head. Of course that is a worst case senerio. If your interested make sure it hasn't been wrecked. Something does smell fishy about that data plate. All the best,----Chuck

Whew........glad I got out of that one. I planned on offering $2,500 but never did. Too much work for what it is.

Thanks for the advice guys--------I'll keep searching for that $3,300 fastback instead ! :-)
