Default Chrome plated metal on original radio bezel

Does anyone know if the metal on the original '65/'66 am radio bezels is made of pot metal or ? ? In CA chrome shops won't re-chrome pot metal because of the cyanide process necessary to prep. the metal. The EPA says no. Anyone have experience in this field? I'm stumped and any advice would be helpful. Thanks !

Sorry to say, but it's made of pot metal. If you want to keep the original bezel instead of replacing with a repro or a good used piece, try contacting a plating shop outside of Calif. I'm sure that there is someone out there that does what you need. It'll just take a little research.----Chuck

Thanks Chuck. I suppose you're right though. I've done some research and would be better off finding a good used one. I didn't know they made repros of bezels ? Any places you recommend me trying? Thanks again.

Steve, I misinformed you about the availability of repro radio bezels for your model year. It's part of the radio, not a separate piece.

I'd check out Hemming's Motor News for a specialty company that may be able to help you out. You can pick up a copy at book shops like Barnes & Noble or Books a Million usually in the magazine section.

Hope you find a solution, Good luck---Chuck
