Well I've finally made the plunge to the fastback. It's a '65 A code, black with GT options...NO rust and a mostly original interior (except for the radio and speakers which I'm going back to original on). Best of all is it's a numbers matching car with updated suspension, the factory engine was rebuilt with a mild cam , hardened valve seats with mild porting. The horsepower is estimated at 300-350 HP there is an Offy. Aluminum intake, Carter 650 4bbl and Custom Flowmaster Exhaust . The worst ?.......I have to wait two+ #^$% weeks to get it. Oh well, it'll be worth the wait. Here are a few pics:
Good to hear he tookt he offer. I was keeping an eye on it and its still at 20k what price did he decide to take? is it stock A code? If it's stock 200-225 the most HP it will have. mine is a 383 and I'm assuming it has 350-425 HP
Hey AJ, I paid the same as you did for yours. He just wasn't going to budge. I did get a pretty good deal for shipping tho'. $799 from MI to CA. Considering fuel prices nowadays I thought that to be reasonable.
I had to wait for 3 weeks to getmine and I paid $840 for shipping.
Wait until you get her. You sell your coupe in a heart beat. I can't tell you how much attention I get on the streets and highway and I have people always giving me the thumbs up everywhere I go. You can get a modern Shelby and the guy withthe fastback will get more attention. I must say that the car looks sharp in Black b/c if I had a white or gold color I would get less looks

The only mods he says it has are as follows. It has heads done. Mild porting (so this it's not a radical window shaking car more of a strong, fast, fun car) cam, free flowing full dual exhaust go into flow master mufflers. The newer profile cams produce way more power than the old style. It also has an Offenhauser aluminum intake. They cost a lot but are ported 360 degrees from the factory on a CNC machine so they flow great. Has a jetted Carter AFB 650 carburetor and electronic fuel pump. This combination of cam, head porting, intake flow, carburetor and exhaust combo with no fuel pump drag give it its power. It's very nicely balanced and not over the top so can drive anywhere without over heating. Also has a newer radiator and an oversized fan. It also has a new 160 degree thermostat.
First, very nice pony! Can't help but notice that you say it has an oversized fan. I looked at the pic of the engine and am wondering what kind of fan you have. It looks like it only has only two blades.
It may be in your best interest to see how well the engine stays cool in a stop and go traffic situation. There should be a fan shroud installed to assist in air flow through the radiator. They don't cost much and would really help in cooling. If your fan does it's job keep it, if it doesn't I would suggest a fan with a temperature operated clutch. It would allow the fan to freewheel until it's needed, allowing a few more HP to be available. Just a thought that you may want to address.
Other than that, I hope you enjoy your new ride.---Chuck
