Default Body side molding

Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to the forum and I have a 1970 fastback Mustang that is being repainted. My question is about the chrome plated body side molding with the rubber insert to prevent door dings. Does anybody know if that is factory or dealer installed or just an after market add on? It is pop riveted on and not the taped on type. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike. First of all welcome to AFM !

I'm not super familiar with the 1970 FB but can only tell you that I've never seen side moulding on them before. I'm thinking it could have been a dealer option as the detail of the side would be prone to door dings as you mentioned. My opinion about side moulding is that it looks rather cheesy. I never mind parking way out in the boondocks (away from other cars) to keep that nice looking detail. The walking is good exercise too
