I was under my '67 today doing some welding on the floor pan when I noticed an orange glow through some of the small holes that I hadn't yet welded up. I realized the interior was on fire (it is completely stripped - no seats or carpet) The radiant heat set the seam sealer on fire which quickly set the steering shaft rubber grommet on fire! This was beyond a "snap of the rag" or "blowing" and was getting bigger. Thank God I alway keep a charged fire extinguisher close by. One small squeeze of the trigger took care of the fire and all I had left to do was clean up a little water and foam. I never thought the seam sealer would ignite and spread so rapidly! I know most of us "think" safety, but many of us don't. Maybe this would be a good time to make sure you have a charged fire extingusiher in your garage.
