Default Scott Drake Drum to Disc kits?

Hey guys, I noticed that John's Mustang in Dallas has a front drum to disc conversion kit for '65-'66's. Has anyone heard of it or used it? The price is reasonable at $650-$699 I'm just wondering if it stacks up at all with SSBC A-120D. John's says the sell a lot of them and have never had a complaint (what else would they say......DUH). Anyway, any comments or experiences would be welcomed. Thanks

When I looked at it, I was fairly impressed. I wouldn't be surprised if it's from a major company like SSBC since Scott Drake doesn't make EVERYTHING they sell. I put the Scarebird 11" kit on my car for less than $400 and I like it so far.

Hey 5.0......is it as easy to install as the SSBC kit? I mean this'll be the first time I've ventured into brake work etc.. and I've learned through the forum that SSBC is the easiest (yet more expensive) to install.

Did you do all four at the same time?

Hello. There is absolutely no way that I would use anything that has anything to do with Scott Drake on a system that I count on to save my life like brakes. It has been my experience that everything that Scott Drake makes is useless junk, pure and simple. My opinion of John's Mustang isn't much better. His place is only about ten minutes from my house. I never go there.

Steve <-----taking notes......DO NOT BUY SCOTT DRAKE STUFF

That's funny because you're the first person I know of to who doesn't like Scott Drake. The only things I've bought of his have been cosmetic (i.e. screw kits etc.) and those have been few and served their purpose. The reason I added this thread was because I couldn't believe he also had brakes and that they were so cheap (cheap being the operating word here). Anyway.......I DO value your advice on this as I was heavily leaning toward SSBC anyway. I don't want my insurance rates to skyrocket because I rear ended a Mercedes braking for a cat darting across the street.

Hi again. You should talk to Scott Drake's brother, Bob. That would make two people that you know that have that opinion. Bob Drake's stuff, however, is looks EXACTLY like the original component, and functions flawlessly. His stuff is great. As a side note, the SSBC front disc kit is what I have on my fastback and I love it. The brakes work great, and the installation is so easy that if I had just layed the stuff in the garage it probably would have crawled onto the car all by itself.

HOWEVER.......I would feel badly for that kitty darting across the street if I keep the drums.

Stump said his SSBC's almost installed themselves too. Easy is right down my alley !

Hi again. Easy is always better than difficult. Now, if you could just figure out a way to induce that cat to dart out in front of you before the $%&% and its demon-seed offspring decide to scratch up my fender so they can sleep on the hood of my car again, I suspect that everyone would be a little happier. Well, everyone but the cat, that is. But, the sacrifice of the one for the good of the many is a noble thing.

If I had known that a different brake product, might have reduced the cat population, I would have given it serious consideration!

Now I guess I need more dogs...

Steve,
Do you happen to have a picture of how the horns mount in either your '65 or '66? Something that includes where the wires feed through? I have to remount my '64 horns because of the new '65 wiring harness; which means I need to drill holes...
