Smile Mustang Hatchback??

Hey guys,

I have been frequenting these forums but not posting much. However now the need arises for me to ask the AFM community because I am by no means a car enthusiast I am 19 and currently drive a 1997 Mercury Sable wagon (great car, like it alot).

But anyway soon I will be looking for a new car and I was thinking of another Mercury, among other things, until my friend who also frequents this forum turned me on to the Mustang hatchback (Mustang II I think it is. I am not sure)

Anyway, the main thing with me is the fact that I am in a wheelchair, thus my car needs to fit all my crap in it (i.e. wheelchair spare wheels and junk.)

I have been looking for the hatchback mustang ( I only saw a picture my friend provided) on KBB and other sites like Ebay and come up with nothing.

So, would you be able to help me to find this Mustang. I need the name, year(s) of production, and any actual listings you may find. Also anybody with specs as to trunk space and all that, it would be awesome. I have been told that they are hard to find since they are from the so called "Dark Ages of the Mustang" so any help will be appreciated.

Why are you looking at the Mustang II's? Have you looked into the Fox bodies? I haul wheelchairs in mine from time to time (work related) and can fit a full sized Quickie 2 with an Extender option in the hatch with the rear seats down and just about any rigid frame in the passenger's seat with rear wheels off and backrest down. Parts and cars are much easier to find in those years as well.

Yup,hatchbacks available '74-'78 (Mustang II) and '79-'93 (Fox body). Just depends on your choice of body style

He's looking for a Mustang II b/c he LIKES the Mustang II. Try searching on google, man. I'm sure you find the specs and data that you need. They are harder to find, but they are cheaper (base models) when you do find one. Good luck, if you need any help, PM me.

I have tried looking for both and haven't come up with much at all. I'm really just trying to find one which is the most condusive to fitting a wheelchair in it. I don't want to mod it at all. This is going to end up being my daily driver. Thanks
