I have a couple of items posted on the classifieds.
My first response is from "UK" buying items for their customers...LOL...As everyone knows THIS IS A SCAM.
Please alert all of your friends and advertisers.
Thanks
Dana

It's not only this board it happens on. I'm on other boards too, not all are car related, and they are getting them too. I know someone who just tried selling a quad in a local paper by me and they got a scammer's attention. With the internet and almost everything being available online today (including the classifieds of some papers) it's only getting easier and easier for the scammers out there.
On ANY board be careful of newly registered members using Hotmail, Gmail, or another free email program answering or posting posts in the classifieds area. It's one thing if they have been around for awhile and take part in other areas of the forum but if they only stay in the classifieds and have low post numbers then you really want to be extra careful. I'm not saying all new members are bad or that you couldn't get taken by a veteran member of a board but there are certain telltale signs that are commonly used by scammers.

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
Stupid jerkoffs... (sorry, had to say it). I was trying to sell some expensive electronics on ebay to pay for an engine rebuild in my 66 about 2 weeks ago. Well, some moron got on there and pushed the bids up around $150 more at the last second. I did'nt have time to stop them b/c the guy/girl didn't have any bid history in forever and last 10 were negative. The same goes for when I bought my 66.
I went and looked at the car and gave the people an offer (found the car on ebay). They said they'd let the auction run, but keep my offer in mind. Well, some person with 0 bid history got on there and bumped the bids up around $2,000 more in the last 40 seconds. The owner immediately emailed me, apologized for it, and took my offer. Of course, the person never intended to pay, they just wanted to do something like described above. They were referred to law enforcement.

Stock as can be, just trying to reverse the damage the previous owner caused.
Unfortunely laws get created and tightened because of inconsiderate
people such as these, making it harder for law abiding citizens to get
things done such as obtaining a birth certificate etc. Criminals try
everything, and they screw it up for everyone!

I know. I'm trying to sell a crank kit for $1000 but they wanted to give me $7500, keep $1500 for myself ($500 extra for my trouble) and send the rest via Western Union immediately when I got the money orders. Riiiiiight... yeah I'm going to send $6000 to an anonymous person sight unseen and get stuck by the bank a few days later for the fake $7500. I like how you don't even need an address to ship these things to... wouldn't you need one to know where to send it to?? No, the shipper (always provided) already knows where it's going. Too bad the feds won't track them down through their ICP and stop this.

problem is many of these jerks are overseas and NO one is searching them out. and many people fall for these scams, esp older people....

- Shaken....Not Stirred 2003 Mach I Auto Torch Red - Sold
-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.
- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
The bad thing is after my scammer attempt last year, I STILL get responses today. They're all just about the same, wanting to send more than enough and they want immediate response. Oh yeah, each one misspells the same exact words and they each have a Yahoo address... DOH I guess someone put STUPID on my forehead...

Another tip i learned from a banker friend if they want to pay with a cashiers check walk away. Its a scam the check is legal but they empty the account right after so it bounces and your out of luck. There was a add on collector car trader for a gt500e convertible for 8 grand funny thing the pictures where off Unique Performance website. And the add was great called it a try power instead of tri and a lot of bs.
Morning, I'm new here so forgive me and correct me if i ask the wrong questions at the wrong thread at the wrong time . Our classifieds here at AFM, is it just for members? and Did anybody ever had a problem?

HP, anyone can read our ads, but we have to sign in to post. These scammers look at all car ads and Mrs. Donald Ann seems to get around....what a bunch of idiots. I actually received checks and they were signed in Nevada.
