Default How much for this mustang?

Looking at this 68 mustang and would like to get an opinion of what its worth. Guy says its been sitting up for a while, a 302 has been put in it and should just need a carb rebuild to get the motor running. Here is a link to the pictures he sent me, I have not seen it in person. So from what you see in the pics what would be a good price.
Thanks for looking. Any opinions are appreciated.

three words come to mind here...hidden rust, and bondo.

That shouldn't keep you from buying though. If the car isn't running and "just needs a carb rebuild" I wouldn't go over $3K for this car. $4K if I'm in a good mood.

I thought of that to, but the guy sounded pretty straight forward, it wasnt really for sale I saw it in the background of a picture of something else he was selling and figured I'd ask about it. Off the top of his head he said $3500, he said he hadnt really done anything with it yet, he got it how it is. So he dosent even know what the body is like under the paint. Anyone else with out there with a thought?

I thought about that to. The car wasnt actually for sale I saw it in the background of a picture of another car he was selling. He said he hasnt really done anything with the car yet and off the top of his head he could probably sell it for $3500. He sounded pretty straightforward and said the car is pretty much how he got it. So I dont think he knows what kind of condition it is under the paint. Anyone else with any thoughts?

Ask for pictures or condition of the inner-rockers, frame rails, and torque boxes. Floors are replaceable with little effort, but the structural parts can make repairs cost-prohibitive, especially if you're not doing the work yourself. Speaking from experience on that part.

As for the motor, if it turns over you're halfway there. Fuel and spark are relatively easy things to fix most of the time.

As long as it only has minor rust, nothing major, $3500 isn't too bad for a complete car.

Something else I see too, that car isn't a factory air car, it was added later. The compressor and underhood stuff looks correct but the a/c was in the dash in 68, not a unit hanging underneath. 66 was the last year for that in the Mustang.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

JayDawg ...you spot on!

I would come back at 2200.00 personally (ya never know) but as my friend would say "you don't do business with tha dragon"
any way.....if he sticks to his price, be very polite. Cuz I'm sure he'll come back and say "ole boy down tha road over thar said he could rebuild that carb for 75.00."

Well if that is true hand him 3575.00 and ask to have the carb rebuilt and you'll pick it up when he's finished. You'll learn real quick if that is the ONLY problem the car has. I've pissed off some cool cats before with their "it will only cost $x.oo to fix." comments. hell if its that cheap why didn't you fix it and ask more for the car.????????

NEVER believe it only cost x to fix or they would have done it!!!!!
