Default 1967 Fastback Questions

Hey Guys, i just bought a 1967 Fastback and i have some questions. I just typed a really long and friendly post but i accidentally pushed refreshed and lost it all. i'm a little annoyed but still excited to be part of the AFM community.

1. Will a 460 block fit in my 1967 fastback? Will it be too much power? How will my fastback handle corners? Sloppy?

2. I'm going to redo suspension after i get the body work done. I'm looking in to RRS (Revelation Racing Supplies) Specifically the Phase 1 Strut and Brake Kits,Steering Rack & 3-Link Rear end What do you guys think? http://www.rrs-online.com.au/products.php

3. i like the raised trunk lid but want to keep the 3 slit tail lights instead of the 1967 Cougar taillights wat do u guys think? is there a ford mustan model that does this? i know the Shelby 1967 fastback have the raised trunk lid and the cougar lights.

Thanks for all the help guys (in advance)

1) Barely but yes. Fits better with shaved towers or an M2 suspension. You can shave the towers with the RRS stuff which is excellent but $$. Handles like total azz cuz it it so heavy.

2) See #1

3) Find pics of it, you might change your mind, I know I did. It looks downright friggin odd without the cougar lights.

what is a good engine to stick in it. I'm new to all of this. I want it to be a beast yet can still be a daily driver and with decent handling. I'm planning on getting the RRS suspension stuff.

P.S. i have a 460 block right now. should i keep or not?

It may be a little expensive, but give a stroked 351 block a thought. You can go above 400 cu. in. with them. A lot of people who build the Cobra roadsters install a 427 version of the engine. You will get the cubic inches that you want without having to do surgery to the shock towers and without the tremendous weight of the big block.

I also have a 67 fastback and I think the raised "ducktail" trunk lid with the 3 slit tail lights looks good. It's one mod that I want to do. Getting someone's opinion on how something looks is OK, but you need to do what pleases you, after all, it's your car, feel free to express yourself.

I like the suspension mods that you are considering and it seems as though you are looking to build a car that will handle. If this is the case you will never be satisfied with a big block sitting in the engine bay. For drag racing yes, but even sinking a ton of money in the suspension you'll never be able to outfox the laws of physics.

Buy a crate engine that's been stroked. Check out some of the Mustang magazines, there are several ads in there showing big cube small blocks that are reliable and built by reputable companys. Ford Racing Performance Parts a division of Ford even builds crate strokers. Good luck with your car. ---Chuck
