Default i'm looking into buying a 65-69 mustang. What should i look for?

im looking into buying a '65-'69 mustang coupe 6 cyl and i was just wondering what are some things that i should look for when im buying? (rust, ect.)
Any specific problem areas i should know about?

also how difficult and expensive would it be to put an a/c system in and change the front drums 2 disc?

Welcome to AFM! Yup floor pans, wheel wells, just about any metal area is a potential problem spot. I dont know about AC systems, but you can get a front disc conversion kit for around $1200, but if you cant install it yourself the price will go way up.

Hope that helps!
Sore

Hi and welcome to the Forum! You can get the disc conversion kit for under 1K (SSBC). Just be sure that before you buy it you make sure the kit is for the 6 cyl as the 8 cyl kits are different. As far as rust goes the other guys have given great locations to check. Be sure to take a cup of water and pour it in the cowl area to see if it leaks inside! I doubt the owner would let you do that but you can tell by looking into the cowl for any rust. Also check the shock towers, the battery tray, around the glass molding, drip rails etc. Good luck!!

Shock towers and cowl....everything else can be fixed. btw....I'd be interested to hear how long it takes you to find a decent 69 fb without giving your first born? I am ALWAYS interested in a 69 fb forget the Mach I.....just a good fast back would suit me.

You can get a Classic Air daily driver AC complete kit (134a) from most Mustang vendors for $895 (+ probably $50 shipping). You would have to install this, then pay to have it vacuum tested and charged.
A concours look kit would probably be about $200 - $300 more than the daily driver kit.

Torgue boxes on front frame, if rusted out that is a major job, most of the time the damage is only to the bottom cover whick is easily replaced.

Ryan you are living in a great state: Arizona, to find rust free cars. as the weather is so dry. You need to start cruising all the salvage yards in your area. Coupes are plentiful in most areas.
Good luck.
