Default Rally-pac recalibration

Has anyone out there had a rally-pac recalibrated? Any suggestions on an honest, knows-what-they're-doing business to deal with?? I was given (yes, GIVEN) an original rally-pac several years ago for my 66 coupe (just recently learned that the rally-pac is actually a 65 model, but who cares?!). Anyway, I found out a couple of years back that it's calibrated for an 8cyl - I have a 200 6cyl. The coupe is back on the road and I wanted to see about getting the rally-pac converted (recalibrated, whatever they call it) so I can hook it up and it's not just for looks, ya know? Any help is much, much appreciated!!

It shouldn't be too hard to change it over, the main thing (and probably the only thing) would be for the tach. Just redo the wires from the tach and wire them in directly to the negative side of the coil and then one to the distributor. That should work.

I just had an 8-cyl tach from a 65 hi-profile Rally Pac converted to operate with my 6-cyl. The work was done by "Gary the Tach Man," who in my humble opinion is the guy to go to for tach repair, restoration and conversion. I have heard nothing but good about his work and my own experience was very positive. I would definately go back to him if I ever have need for additional tach repair or restoration.

Check out his website. He also has a toll free number you can call to talk about the work you are considering.

Also, here's a site I found about the hrestoration of a Rally Pac that includes the conversion of an 8-cyl tach to a 6. Lots of good photos. Looks like the conversion from 8 to 6 requires the addition of a resistor inside the tach itself.

Good luck, and I hope this is helpful.

Here's another good site on do-it-yourself Rally Pac restoration. I actually traded a few e-mails with the site's creator. Although he no longer restores Rally Pacs, he kindly answered some questions I had on my own restoration project that helped me out a lot.

I'm getting ready to do the quartz clock conversion on my Rally Pac's clock. Below is the link to the company that makes these conversion kits. As they also sell to the classic parts companies we use, you can save around $30 by ordering directly from them.

Oh yeah, I should have said "capacitor" as opposed to "resistor" in my other post. I got straight C's my Pre-Tech Electronics class
