Default Is it worth it to convert my auto to manual?

I have a 65 fatsback with a 383 stroked on a C4 tranny. All ym friends tell me to convert it to manual. I was wondering if I was to ever sell it what will be the thing people would prefer? I think I would save more gas having a manual with a 4 or 5 speed since my current C4 are only made with 3 speed and its not good on gas

Default my vote is Yes

I just brought a 03 MACH 1 w/ 5sp... I haven't driven stick in 10yr or more - but suddenly I brought one. Mid life crisis - perhaps? Either way - I brought it and I love it!

Yes - convert it. Yes - there is so fuel saving but the fun of driving manuel cannot be beat!

I would not spend anything on the tranny if you are only worried about selling - who knows what someone else would want!
If you have someone looking for an original type car, they won't want to get a car with a manual tranny when it came with an auto - plus you are going to figure out how to add all the linkages. Same thing the other way - if the car came with a manual tranny, you have top get rid of the clutch pedal, etc. A lot of times this kind of conversion throws up a flag to the purchaser because they don't know exactly what kinds of trannys, conversions, etc. were done.

On the other hand, if you car is heavily modified, someone may want a manual tranny or even a later model AOD (seems to be popular now), but I would not do either conversion for resale.

Bottom line - put what you want in there now to drive, and maybe try to do it so you can swap it back to sell your car. That way if you sink big $$$ on a tranny, you can keep it and use on something else.
