Default Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster Exhaust Systems

I am trying to decide between a magnaflow or a flowmaster exhaust system for my 1967 mustang. Anyone have any educated opinions on the 2 systems? Thanks

I don't think there are any major differences between the two other than their respective sounds.

I'm a FlowMaster guy I'm getting ready to put Super44s on my 67 with a 5.0 now. Seems to me MagnaFlow is a is a real fine product. It's the kind of sound that you're looking for that is going to be the deciding factor. I just like the FlowMaster sound with the 5.0s firing order. I know FlowMaster makes a complete system for the 67 small block, but I'm not so sure about MagnaFlow.

My Tri-y's just cracked on my 67 and i'm getting ready to replace them. I am also going to replace everything from the H-pipe back and was just looking for this kind of thread. Does anyone have any sound clips of anything besides the Flowmasters. I think we all know what they sounds like.. lol

Not being a current owner i do have some input.

On my older 5.0's flomasters..but i sounded like everyone else....i've had spintechs on a car....LS1....it was good.

the Magnaflows downright outperform the flowmasters. Period.
they are quieter until the moment you stomp on them.....i've had them on a Lt4 and currently on a LS2 they are more subdued, freer flowing.
i vote Magnaflows. Why be like everyone else.

Go MagnaFlow. A chambered or baffled muffler has too much restriction in the upper RPM's.

The guy who owned my 2006 GT before me already installed a set of Ford Racing M-5230-GTA axlebacks. Would a Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or Borla axleback set give me that much more sound?

mangnaflow, flowmaster, or borla will give you a different sound. But not as huge difference between the GTA's that you already have. If you went from the stock GT muffler to borla, mangaflow or flows, then you would notice a big difference. but the GTA's are kinda like the middle ground between the stock and the borla and such.

i believe you will get more of a rumble at idle, and that will be the most noticeable difference.

I have SS MagnaFlow catted x pipe and Magnapack mufflers. You can feel the difference over the stock pipe, a little on the loud side, but they sound pretty bad ass.

I have tried all the brands mentioned, sounds like you are looking for loud. If you are looking for loud and deep go with the Spintecs. They sound more bad a$$ than flows imo. Wicked under acceleration, insane when downshifting. Just a little warning, flowmasters and spintecs will be loud outside of the vehicle as well as inside.

BigKevo is right. I took mine car right after I bought it and put Flowmasters on it. The muffler guy suggested for me NOT to get Super 44's because it would distort the music on the inside of the Mustang. So I got their series 50.

FYI...here is a Flowmaster that was made exclusively for the GT Mustang from Flowmaster. I have it and I love it!
