Default Dash pad questions

I need a new dash pad. I have seen the pads in the catalogs for almost 400.00 and then there is just a hard cover that you can glue on. Has any one had experience with the covers? Or is it better just to spend the money for a orig tooled dash pad.

Hello. On a 69/70 car the dash caps look just fine. They look pretty stupid on a 65-68, but if you aren't trying to put together a car for the concours trailed class for national shows, the dash cap would be ok. You have to look pretty close to even know that it's there. Hope that helps.

Default No Dash

I just got a 69 mustang grande with air but there is no dash in it. The instrument cluster is there. Do I have to buy the $400 dash pads or can I somehow make a cover fit without a dash there?

If you want to keep the luxury look of the Grande, you need to start saving up. I can't imagine how someone could make a decent looking dash for under what a repro dash pad would cost. Those covers don't have any reinforcement, they are just covers that have to attach to the original dash pad.

do you think an older one that someone is going to replace since it is cracked and such would cost me alot or would something like that be still useful and between the cost of the cover and the old dash pad the cost would be close to the $300 for a new dash? I would have thought that the old cracked dashes would pretty much be garbage but I am not sure after looking on fleabay and seeing what some parts are going for!
