Default portable car garages

Hi all, looking to buy a portable (cloth & poles) single car garage for my 66 mustang. They sell a cheap one at p-boys and I looked up others online. Any input from those who've purchased/used them.

Thanks, JR

I had a car cover on it but it was a pia to remove it every time I wanted to do the simplest little thing plus it's old and needs to be replaced anyway. I'd rather have an enclosure where I can work on it year round (ice cold weather excluded) and not have to worry about rain and snow.

I have a 10' x 24' portable garage I stored my Chevy in last year as I don't have a permanent garage for that car.

Some things I've noticed/discovered with it:

Stayed several degrees warmer during the day due to the sun. Even though the material is opaque it was like a greenhouse.

Has to be in a dry area of your yard and if you're putting it over a nonpaved/cemented area plastic MUST be put down. It will trap moisture in it, the greenhouse will become a sauna.

I'm right on top of a hill and get heavy winds. It stood up well, no problems with the framework. The material got several holes and rips due to debris hitting it. Nothing major and would go several years without needing replacement but I want you to know. If you have a protected area and don't have the high winds then this won't be as big a factor for you.

Due to the high winds I bought 2 ground securing kits for it. A total of 8 corkscrews to anchor it into the ground.

I attached a pic of mine.

The portable garage that I have is made by Shelter Logic. They are the same ones you can buy from Northern and other catalogs.

I bought mine factory direct though and picked it up myself. I live only 1.5 miles from the Shelter Logic factory here in Watertown, CT. No shipping charges for me.

The shipping would be expensive on this as the boxes it comes in are very heavy and large. My Chevy Caprice wagon (visible in my attached pic behind the garage) is what I used to get it. The boxes filled up the whole back of the car even with both rear seats down.

This is the only option I have where I am. Due to deed restrictions and zoning issues no additional garage can be permanently placed on my property. The portable garage is taken down in the spring. My Mustang is in the attached garage of the house so my Chevy has to stay outside unfortunately. I hate to do that as it's the other car I work on and doing a light restoration to. I feel bad it has to sit outside.

If I really had the land space, no deed restrictions, and the cash I'd put up a pole barn. I make due with what I have for now though.
