Default Which vehicles use the 3G alt? Thinking abount installing in my 1966 Mustang

Which vehicles besides 94-94 (?) Mustangs use the 3G alt? I'm thinking of attempting to put one on my 66.

Any 94 5.0 like the Thunderbird, Explorer, or mustang. But u can go to the parts store and get one u will just have to suck up the core charge. U can get one for $139 with a $55 dollar core charge from advance auto. I would go with a rebuild if I were u.

You need one that's clocked the same as the original, 90-95 Taurus 3.8, 3.0 96-98 windstar, and SN95 Mustang will all fit.

Clocked? That refers to the shape of the case; mounting holes, etc?

Nope, at least not for the most part. It most commonly refers to the orientation of the tabs, which is a function of the orientation of the case, as most alts. can be re-clocked to different mounting arrangements by splitting the case and twisting it. IIRC the 3g is a different size case between several of the different clockings, so that's sort of a moot point.

Then you have me out in the middle of the driveway at 1am building a 65amp alternator out of a handful of parts I found on the floor in the shop so my cousin could get home in his 86 Pontiac...that was quite an education in alternators and an entirely different story, so I digress.
