Different Shades of White for my 1966 Mustang Hey everyone,
I am finishing up restoring my interior in my 66 coupe. All i have left to do is recover the original seats. I have done everything so far in a custom (non original) two tone combo of 66 red with white. Last year when i replaced the window cranks i ordered the door panels from mustangsplus in white. The salesman said that the white color for 65 and 66 were the same (as was shown in the TMI book White # 2290 ). The white door panels match the white headliner perfect. Now i am getting ready to order the upholstery and have come to find out that for 66 standard interior that have the Rossette inserts, the inserts can not be made in white, only parchment. My options are to order the two tone color combo in all sierra grain, essentially a 65 seat, or to go with pony interior which will also be all of sierra grain. So i decided to go with the pony interior, but figured i better get some color samples to make sure everything matched up. But when i got the color samples the white was extremely bright, and not even shown in the TMI book. I called and asked TMI about this and they said they have only one color white for 65 and 66. But my door panels do not match the color sample they just sent me. Does anyone have any suggestions on where i should look around for another company to match all of the existing white pieces i have in my car? I want 66 red on the outside trim area and the duller white (like the headliner and door panels ) for the insert area.
Thanks a bunch!! and Happy Thanksgiving!! |
