Default axle shaft for a 1966 mustang and a 1968 mustang interchangeable?

Have a chance do get a pair of 65 mustang axle shafts for a good price. Problem is I have a 68 Mustang. The 65 is going to be to short isn't it?
I searched the archives and everything else, but so help me ,cannot find anyone who actually give the length of the axle shafts themselves.
Thanks...

I thought so.....
BTW, I noticed in your Avatar that you have a AOD trans. Looking into this for my car. Any advise on what years to look for, any mods done to the valve body? Did you have to get kick down cables? I've heard good things about the Lenntech...

I don't have a lentech, but Lentech and Art Carr are to excellent choices. I had an AOD dominator which was the biggest piece of crap, I now run a locally built and beefed up tranny.

I have a stock valve body with a shift kit in it and a one piece input shaft (so no locking up of the converter). You use a TV cable not a kickdown cable and most mustang/performance houses sell AOD TV cables now. If you have a Holley carb you will need a small bracket that bolts to the linkages so the tv cable moves in the correct arc. I am thinking of putting the Lentech street dominator valve body in which will give me try 1,2,3 shifting and a switch on for overdrive, but if you are starting from scratch you might consider the AODE/4r70w and a bauhman controller. This will give you 1, 2, 3 shifts and a switch for OD but also electronic control and the ability to dial in your shift points.
