Default Cost of an AOD Tranny/was it worth it?

I am going to put and aod transmission in My 73 stang. I got a few quotes but they range in price. I have read enough to know that I don't know anything! How much does this swap usually run(ball park) I got a few qoutes aroung 2 grand is that high or are they on time?

If you have done this swap was it worth it?

What engine are you running in front of it. The AOD is not very stong. I think the E40D (Dont quote me on this but this should be the C6Base Overdrive tranny) would be a better choice.

Yes theres a e4od a aode aod and 4r70w.Now a stock aod is kinda weak i blew up one with a 2.3 in a ranger but if you build it up it can take a beating. You'll need the tranny the crossmember make or buy new drive shaft a tv cable/kick down and some odds and ends.Heres a site to look at Early Mustang AOD Conversion Kit, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973

I run a beefed up AOD behind my 410c
I think it is an excellent upgrade and it makes it easy to run a big rear (4.11 in mine) and still have a car that isn't killing you in the RPMs when you cruise down the freeway at 70-80 mph
