Default 1967 Mustang, Driver mirror works but it hangs. Replace or Fix?

My driver side mirror works with the inner knob and everything seems to work EXCEPT the exterior piece that holds the actual mirror hangs. The base of the mirror looks ok, there's obvious rubber wear out.

My question: Should I go and buy a new one? or is there a way to just fix it? Thanks!

Note: Maybe a video of it might give a better exact example...

Unless you can figure out how to tighten the swivel.

Replace it.

Hello. If you remove the entire mirror assembly from the car and look at the bottom of the base, there will be a phillips head screw that goes through the bottom of the base and into a weird looking mounting bracket. You need to snug up that screw. Or it could be that the bracket itself is busted. I tried to put a couple of pictures up yesterday, but something about the site itself is still in the shop or something and I couldn't post the pictures.Maybe I'll catch a break today.

Hi again. Nope. No pictures. Oh,well. It will be pretty obvious once you get the mirror off of the car. Either the screw is loose or the bracket is busted.

That's very kind of you, thanks! I did look around online to see my buying options. But I do want to take it apart and mess with it, now that you gave me a clue of what to do, now I'm not afraid of wrecking things more than they are lol. I'm going to try to get my hands on it in a "non-raining" area hopefully by Thursday, so I can mess wit that mirror. Times like these were I need a garage to work on my car.

Thanks for the info!
