Default Electric Fuel Pump location, 1966 Mustang

Hi Guys and Gals,

I've got a question for you. I've got a 1966 Mustang that I'm installing a new engine in (347 ci). I have bought a Holley Blue Pump with regulator and the instructions say to mount the pump lower than the fuel tank and near the rear of the car. The instructions also say to mount the pump right- side up and near the fuel tank. After I got underneath, I couldn't find a spot near the fuel line or large enough to mount this pump right-side up. I checked all my Mustang Monthly and Mustang and Fords magazines and couldn't find an article on this. Any suggestions would really help

1966 Mustang without an engine or transmission so far.

The pump is gravity fed and is designed to push the fuel to the engine, not suck it out of the tank, hence the reason why it needs to be lower than the tank. Usually some custom metal bracket needs to be made for those pumps, you should've gotten a template for such a procedure. A plate can be made for it to mount to, then that way you can attach it wherever you can at the back on the car. It's recommended to put it on the chassis and away from heat sources too, and anywhere you can find for it will work.

Thanks for the information. The pump has a small bracket that is attached to it. However, on this car it seems like the only place I could mount it is near the exhaust system which doesn't work for me. I was wondering if anyone has a picture of where they mounted their fuel pump. It surely would be apprecitated. I've never had this problem before, but I have to admit this is the first older Mustang that I've worked on.
