Default 1867 Mustang Fender selection - Ford versus Aftermarket

Sorry for the typo in the title, it should read "1967" not 1867..

Hello, This is my first time coming on line for advice and would like to thank everyone in advance who can help. I have a 1967 mustang coupe that is in need of paint and some body work. I am not sure which direction to go in selecting new fenders. I would like to know if anyone has used the heavy gauge aftermarket fenders versus the original Ford tooling fenders and what type of modifications if any they had to complete to install these. I would love to buy the Ford tooling pieces however I am on a limited budget the price difference is more than twice for the Ford units. If the cost of the Ford tooling fenders is worth the extra expense then that is what I will do. But I would like to hear from fellow Mustang owners who have done this and learn from past mistakes as well as what worked well. I also would like to use some of the existing sheet metal Hood, doors, and one fender, however my paint person says these parts are so cheap he would rather I buy new and install these versus media blasting my existing parts. Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks again

I used aftermarket fenders on mine, since mine is a 65 coupe, nothing special, but they did align up nicely. They did say "made in Taiwain", which I didnt like, but they did work great.

Thank you helipilot and cbetty. You have helped me out. I heard from the mustang shop I plan on buying these from that they have not had any compliants or returns. But I was concerned with quaility of fit as well as if they needed any grinding and rewelding to get the seams right. From what you both say it sounds like they will work fine and will save me a few bucks. Which is a good thing................Thanks again
