There is a difference in drive shafts. The 6 cyl shaft uses smaller and weaker U-joints than the V8 shaft. If I were you, I'd get one from a V8 car or have one made. Those small U-joints and the small diameter of the 6 cyl shaft will not hold up if you do any kind of spirited driving. If you decide to keep what you have, go to a place that specializes in drive lines. There are "hybrid" U-joints available and these places carry them. Most of the V8 shafts are 2 3/4 inch to 3 inch. Some of the 6 cyl cars had a 2 1/2 inch shaft and some had 2 3/4 shafts.
You didn't mention the length. They vary according to
trans type and rear end type. You will want a 1 inch amount of freedom for the slip yoke.
